Camp Session

Dates: March 10-14, 2025

Fee: $360.00

Ages: 6-14 (as of December 31st of the current camp year)

With a variety of activities, great staff, and world-class facilities, March Mania is the place to be every March Break! March Mania activities are designed with one goal front and center: a fun and engaging March Break. While learning and progression are certainly a part of every day (and a great source of fun in themselves), we recognize this is our campers’ holiday, and camp is structured and activities designed accordingly.

Modules are listed in terms of Junior and Senior age group offerings. All ages are as of December 31 of the current camp year:

  • Junior: Ages 6 to 9 years
  • Senior: Ages 10 to 14 years

Each camper will have the opportunity to climb our newly renovated Indoor Feather Family Climbing Gym.

During online registration, sport and activity availability will adjust in real-time based on the selections of your fellow camp families — best to plan ahead with alternate choices in case your top choice fills up.

Jr. FUNdamentals Kidsport

This program is rooted in Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles and is designed to introduce children to both traditional and non-traditional activities that will help them develop fundamental movement skills and physical literacy, while gaining an appreciation for a variety of sports.

Court Sports

Campers learn and take part in a new sport every day! Favourite features of previous years include basketball, floorball, volleyball, dodgeball, and tchoukball.

Adventure Running!

Athletes will participate in a variety of team-based challenges across our facilities such as score courses, using maps and compasses. It will also introduce children to both traditional and non-traditional activities to help them develop the fundamentals of movement skills and physical literacy.

Dance and Drama

A chance to explore your performative side! Campers will engage in a combination of drama and dance activities designed to build confidence and bring out their inner performer! Develop rhythm, strength, and creativity across many different styles of dance, possibly including hip hop, modern, and jazz.

Jr. Games Challenges

This activity will stretch your imagination, test your determination, require working with your team, and bring a ton of fun to afternoons at March Mania. Challenges will incorporate creative problem-solving and adventure.

Athletes will learn proper and developmental-age appropriate techniques for strength training and fitness to improve athletic performance and development of a healthy, active lifestyle through the design of kid-centric games!

Mindfulness, Meditation and Yoga

Intention, attention, and attitude. Learn to cultivate gratitude, handle emotions, and develop kindness towards themselves and others. Utilizing spaces such as our serene Mindfulness Studio, we’ll teach wellness and mindfulness through activities like yoga and meditation.

Sr. Spirit and Adventure Outdoor Adventure

Explore the great outdoors and learn survival skills. Explore McMaster’s expansive property with adventure across campus. Rain or shine – programming will vary, depending on weather. Pack your bag with appropriate attire – boots, gloves, hats, and snow/rain-gear. Bring daily!

Outdoor ABCs (Low Ropes)

Complete the low ropes course and team development initiatives to help participants discover more about themselves. Rain or shine – programming will vary, depending on weather. Pack your bag with appropriate attire – boots, gloves, hats, and snow/rain-gear. Bring daily!

Mindfulness, Meditation and Yoga

Aquatic Games and Water Sports

Splash around and try out different water sports such as swimming, innertube water polo, pool kayaking, and underwater orienteering! Swimming and treading water skills are mandatory!
Equipment Required: Towel, bathing suit, goggles, etc. Bring daily.

Sr. Multi-Sport and Challenges Court and Racquet Sports

Campers learn and take part in a new sport every day! Explore the world of racquet sports as you develop hand-eye coordination.

Racquets are provided, as well as eye protection for squash.

Favourite features of previous years include basketball, floorball, volleyball, dodgeball, tchoukball, pickleball, squash, and table tennis.

Field Sports

Campers learn and take part in a new sport every day! Favourite features of previous years include soccer, ultimate, touch football, and spikeball.

The schedule below outlines a typical day at camp:

  • 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. — Extended care (must pre-register)
  • 8:30 a.m. — Camper arrival
  • 9:00 a.m. — Group activity/challenge
  • 9:30 a.m. — AM1 activity
  • 10:30 a.m. — AM2 activity
  • 11:30 a.m. — Recreational swim
  • 12:15 p.m. — Lunch
  • 12:45 p.m. — Camp-wide fun and games
  • 1:30 p.m. — PM1 activity
  • 2:30 p.m. — PM2 activity
  • 3:15 p.m. — PM2 activity
  • 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. — Camper dismissal
  • 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. — Extended care (must pre-register)

Self sign-out campers are dismissed at 4:00 p.m.

Your camper must be picked up by an approved pick-up person or have self-sign-out privileges. Both are part of registration. To review your registration information:

Please pay special attention to the Camper Dismissal and Approved Pick-Up Persons sections. If you notice any changes or updates that need to be made, please contact our office ASAP at 905-525-9140 x24464 or at reconline@mcmaster.ca.

A note is required for any special dismissal arrangements (e.g., early pick-up, alternate pick-up person, etc.).

First-day check-in

On the first day of the session, your child will be head to their module counsellor group in the Smith Gymnasium.

  • Look for your module on the counsellor group signs. Staff will also be onsite with counsellor group lists to help direct you.
  • There is a minimum of two counsellors for each group.
  • Athletes are to meet with their counsellor group every morning for attendance and to store their belongings for the day.
  • Athletes are to sign-out with their counsellor group coaches at the end of each day

What to Bring

  • Water Bottle: Bring your own every day!
  • Uniform T-Shirt (provided on the first day of the session)
  • Running Shoes (no “Heelies” or sandals)
  • Bathing Suit – Everyone will participate in a daily recreational swim
  • Towel – ONLY if enrolled in “Aquatic Games & Water Sports” – Campers will be provided a towel for our recreational swim
  • Lunch & Snacks: There is no refrigerator and no access to vending machines or cafeterias. Consider sending lunches in re-usable containers, and remember we’re nut-free!
