Open Singles and Doubles Rules

All Badminton World Federation rules apply with the following amendments and/or additions:

A) GAME SETUP

Matches with a 25-minute time limit will be best 2 out of 3, while matches with a 45-minute time limit will be best 3 out of 5.

  1. Each game will be played to 21 pints.
  2. If the score becomes 20-all, the side which gains a two point lead first, shall win that game
  3. If the score becomes 29-all, the side scoring the 30th point shall win that game.
  4. The side winning a game shall serve first in the next game.
  5. If the time limit expires during a game, the point will be finished if in the middle of play and the game will go to the team with the lead. If it’s a tie during the regular season, the game will be considered a tie.

B) GAMEPLAY

Deciding Serve/Receive: Before a match, a player from each team plays one game of Rock Paper Scissors. The winner gets to choose serve/receive to start the game or to start play on one end of the court or the other.
