Membership Rates and Information

For the purposes of membership to the David Braley Athletic Centre (including the Pulse Fitness Centre) a full-time McMaster student is defined as “a student who has paid the full University Athletics & Recreation Activity Fee as part of the mandatory supplemental fees.” This fee is paid by students enrolled in 18 units or more for the academic year. However, there are some exceptions (e.g., some co-op placements). Students should refer to their account statement to determine if they have paid the full A&R Activity Fee.

McMaster students who have paid the full A&R Activity Fee have access to the David Braley Athletic Centre facilities, including the Pulse Fitness Centre. This includes the use of the indoor and outdoor tracks, pool, fitness centre, group fitness classes, indoor climbing and bouldering wall, squash courts, saunas, open court time and member rates for intramural/instructional programs/golf simulator.

Part-time and graduate students at McMaster University do not pay the full A&R Activity Fee, so they are only granted access to the following within the David Braley Athletic Centre: use of the indoor and outdoor tracks, pool, squash courts, saunas, open court time, and member rates for intramural/instructional programs/golf simulator.

Part-time and graduate students can purchase a membership for access to the Pulse Fitness Centre, group fitness classes, indoor climbing and bouldering wall. The cost for this additional fitness membership is:

• Monthly — $24.78 plus HST = $28
• Annually — $248 plus HST = $280

Visiting students from other universities and colleges are able to purchase a Base Membership (includes use of the indoor and outdoor tracks, pool, squash courts, saunas, open court time and member rates for intramural/instructional programs/golf simulator) or a Fitness Membership (includes Base Membership access plus use of the Pulse Fitness Centre, group fitness classes, indoor climbing and bouldering wall).

Fees are as follows:

• Base Membership Monthly fee —$25 ($22.12 plus HST)
• Fitness Membership Monthly fee — $58 ($51.33 plus HST)

Individuals who are current McMaster employees, alumni, over 65 years of age or currently enrolled in high school can purchase two types of memberships to the David Braley Athletic Centre.

• A Base Membership includes the use of the indoor and outdoor tracks, pool, squash courts, saunas, open court time and member rates for intramural/instructional programs/golf simulator.
• A Fitness Membership includes the Base Membership access plus use of the Pulse Fitness Centre, group fitness classes and the indoor climbing and bouldering wall.

Base Membership:

• Annual fee — $400 ($354 plus HST)
• Monthly fee —$40 ($35.40 plus HST)

Fitness Membership:

• Annual fee — $650 ($575.20 plus HST)
• Monthly fee —$65 ($57.52 plus HST)

McMaster Employee Payroll Option:

McMaster employees can purchase their DBAC membership through monthly payroll deductions. Please visit MacRecOnline and select LOCAL login.

The David Braley Athletic Centre offers two types of general community memberships.

• A Base Membership includes the use of the indoor and outdoor tracks, pool, squash courts, saunas, open court time and member rates for intramural/instructional programs/golf simulator.
• A Fitness Membership includes the Base Membership access plus use of the Pulse Fitness Centre, group fitness classes and the indoor climbing and bouldering wall.

Base Membership:

• Annual fee — $600 ($530 plus HST)
• Monthly fee — $60 ($53.00 plus HST)

Fitness Membership:

• Annual fee — $850 ($752.20 plus HST)
• Monthly fee — $85 ($75.22 plus HST)

We offer two options for one-day guest membership:

Facility Guest Pass: Includes the use of the indoor and outdoor tracks, pool, squash courts, saunas and open court time.

• Cost: $12 ($10.62 plus HST)

Pulse Guest Pass: Includes all access in the Facility Guest Pass plus use of the Pulse Fitness Centre.

• Cost: $20 ($17.70 plus HST)

Guest memberships expire at closing.

Towel service: Includes use of towel and temporary day use of locker.

• Annual fee — $100 ($88.50 + HST)
• Monthly fee — $10 ($8.85 + HST)
